CP4ALL ON-LINE TRAINING PLATFORM

Based on Moodle technology, this e-learning platform is being developed and used within the project to complete and support the on-site training of CP4ALL operators.

Access is reserved to operators and volunteers that participate in CP4ALL training activity, as a part of a completer training path aiming at providing Civil Protection and Red Cross operators and volunteers with specific competencies on how to deal with children and most vulnerable people during post-disaster phase.

CP4ALL OPERATORS

Through the project, a list of specialized professionals and volunteers will be established, to help CP organizations working with children in post-disaster phase.

The list will remain available at the end of the project, being trained operators available to intervene in CP4All and in other countries in case of emergency, and for networking and follow-up purposes. New operators will be included in the list, if properly trained in subsequent editions of CP4All training.

UNISDR and UNICEF have produced together an educational kit for children called “Let’s learn to prevent disasters!”. It includes the board game 'RISKLAND' whereby players learn about what they can do to reduce disaster impacts by answering questions and advancing along the board’s winding path. It aims to provide the educational community and children with an innovative and interactive tool for risk management.

A disaster simulation game from UN and /ISDR (International Strategy for Disaster Reduction).
The interactive game aims at teaching children how to build safer villages and cities against disasters. By playing, they will learn how the location and the construction materials can make a difference when disasters strike and how early warning system evacuation plan can save lives.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Youth Preparedness Program in 2003 launched an advertising campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters. They created the characters of Ray, Gayle, Misti, Sonny, and Raina to address a public of youngsters with games and training material dedicated to different age groups . A Prep Rally in the US is an event that educates children and families about emergency preparedness. Prep Rallies provide community members with the resources they need to get ready and be safety advocates. On the website plenty of any sort of material to support and organize a Prep-rally event.

The editorial project Aiuto!Tu, i disastri e la Protezione Civile (HELP! You, disasters and Civil Protection) was created with the precise aim of explaining to the youngest what Civil Protection is, when it intervenes, and who are the people who are part of it; what are causes of the of natural and anthropogenic risks, what are the ways to self-protection in case of direct involvement, the rules and the conduct to keep to avoid hazardous situations.

The project CIVILINO started in 2003 in Umbria. The fantasy character of “Civilino”(the mascot of the project) was created to facilitate the communication of Bastia Umbra’s Municipal Civil Protection Plan to local schools.
Its main goal is to increase the level of resilience of all citizens, starting from the youngest, by designing new initiatives to increase awareness in children and adults on civil protection issues.
The project developed educational material dedicated to young kids.

ISDR is the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction that brings together many organizations, universities and institutions for a common goal: reducing the number of dead and injured caused by natural disasters. Stop Disaster! is a disaster simulation game promoted from UN/ISDR. Players can simulate different situation such as Tsunami, Hurricane, Wide Fire and Flood. They aim to find solution to save the greatest number of people. 

 

Be a Hero start from that disaster affect everyone. So it take everyone - youth, parents, and communty members - to help prepare. For kids there are two games. Disaster Master is a simulation from home fires to earthquakes. The players make a right choice and earn points to get the next level. Build a kit is a mission where in different location players have to find what you need for an emergency kit. For parents there are an Emergency Checklist Kit and a Family Plan. Young children and teen alike need to be part of the process for their own safety and sense of empowerment. Finally, for educators there are multidisciplinary lessons that teach what do before, during and after an emergency while fostering skilss such as problem solving, teamwork, creativity, leadership, and communication. 

 

  
The Kid Should See This is a growing library of smart&super cool, "not made for kids, but perfect for them" videos that can be watched in the classroom or together at home. Each video is selected to contribute to a kid-frendly corner on the internet that doesn't understimate what children can learn or what they might be interested in. The Fire Lab in Missoula, Montana, is a very big organization with knowledge in fire behaviour. It also has info for kids.

GET READY GET SAFE: is a pioneering Save the Children initiative designed to help US communities prepare to protect and care for the vulnerable children in times of crisis. TENTS-TP (The European Network for Traumatic Stress - Training & Practice) is a European founded project that from 2007 and 2009, established a community wide network of expertise on posttraumatic stress treatment for victims of natural and other disasters and examined which interventions are effective in the aftermath of disaster and whether these are available throughout Europe. TENTS produced an evidence-based model of care with dissemination materials as brochures and guidelines and e-learning materials. Guidelines, dissemination materials and the e-module are free accessible and partly downloadable. The Train the trainer’s package for trainees is available on request.

BUSSOLA FAMIGLIA was a project promoted by Safe the Children Italy and the Association Focolare Maria Regina after L’Aquila earthquake in 2009. The project provided psycho-educational support services for families and children and a specialized training of volunteers “Tutore della Resilienza” (Resilience Tutors). Based on the field experience of Aquila Earthquake, a “Guidelines for children protection during emergencies” was drafted with the aim of creating an innovative tool of national utility to support the implementation of stable and coordinated actions in terms of preparedness and post emergencies actions.
